Brooklands Morgan Day - 1st October 2017

Brookland's Morgan Day 2017
Sunday 1st October at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge

The Route into Brooklands Museum for our Roadster 100 Morgans.

Six Roadster 100's gathered at The Brooklands Museum for what would be our 10th annual visit on what was an overcast day.

There were around 100 Morgans in attendance and good fortune meant that the rain held off while we were all there.

On the way in towards the Brooklands Campbell Gate I notice this beautiful mural for the first time. It is located on the Roundabout on the B274 just south of the entrance road.

I am s
orry for using the cribbed photo as there was no way I could take a photo myself while circumnavigating the roundabout.

For most of those years our Register has been blessed with a specific Display Area.

Sadly this year for some reason we were to be scattered around the general area among the other Morgans.

The Test Hill would be open for Morgans later in the day but there appeared to be no Morgan Cavalcade this year.

This was probably due the awaited arrival of another Car group who were completing their Rally at the Museum, crossing the River Bridge where the cavalcade would normally cross.

There was also significant track works underway on the Mercedes World Track temporarily reducing its size considerably.

Gerald and I quickly erected the Roadster 100 Register Banner as Terry's 'Frog Mog' was the only one of our group to be located in front of our 2015 Display spot.

Brooklands Museum has seen some wonderful changes since our last years visit with the addition here of the rebuilt replica of the Original Race Results Gantry back in its original location.

Stephen & Elizabeth's car was the only Roadster 100 to actually gain access to our previous Display Area as the Marshall's had finished directing when they arrived.

Here our 'The Green Goddess' indicates the randomness of the parking this year , and even a few Tin Tops have been allowed to mix among the Morgans to spoil the Photos.

To our surprise, it is clear that our last years display area had been allocated to The Morgan Historic Register who were there for the first time this year.

Located next to them the Morgan Sports Car Club was also located with Gill Bevan and her lovely blue MSCC Membership Recruitment Gazebo.

One benefit of the MSCC Display was the new MOG 18 Banner also advertising our All Morgans' Day being held on the day after on 1st July 2018

Early arrivals Gerald & Mary, Malcolm & Hazel and Terry.
Sadly, Nola was not able to be here with us today.

Chris & Rosemary Attwood were also about the area somewhere distributing All Morgans' Day booking leaflets.

Stretching away just behind us is the newly reopened 'Brooklands Finishing Straight running up to the tracks Members Banking in the distance.

This track re opening was facilitated by the complete relocation of the WW2 Wellington Hangar, seen just to the left in its beautifully refurbished new camouflage colours.

The Brooklands Museum only occupies a small part of the original oval track.
This Ariel Photo indicates the full extent of the Original Finishing Straight

The Refurbished Wellington Hangar currently being fitted out as an Aircraft Factory Display.

As the Aircraft Factory would have appeared during WW2.

We were blessed once again with our Morgans Day Saxophonist, in Hat this year, stalwartly playing his wide range of music for us throughout the afternoon.

11.30am was time for our coffee meet and a chance to receive an All Morgans' Day 2018 progress catch up from Terry & Rosemary.

Also a chance for Elizabeth and Ann to catch up with family news since we last met in Sherbourn earlier in the year.

Gerald, as usual, is desperate for his Tea.

Out in the museum I spotted the relocated Morgan Three Wheeler positioned across the open door of the Racing Cars display.

To showcase Three Hundred Years of English Freemasonry (1717-2017), the Masonic Classic Vehicle Club is organising the Classic 300

This is a series of individual classic car runs that take place in England and Wales during 2017.

They were arriving here today with us at Brooklands after this areas 300 mile drive.

Their Very Thin Plastic Rally Plaque on the only Morgan in their group. Sorry, I forgot to photograph the car itself.

More 'Classic' than most

A couple of Stunners in the line up.

Not content with his 300 miles this driver was enjoying a few fast loops on the Finishing Straight.

A pause for a speech and a few photos on the Test Hill before leaving.

The visitors were starting to thin out

The Morgan cars were thinning out as well

We were the only ones left of our group so it was time to say Bye Bye Brooklands for another Morgan Day year and head off for home.
